Town Meeting & Voting

**** TOWN MEETING MARCH 2, 2021 – CHANGES DUE TO COVID-19 ****

For 2021 ONLY, Charleston Town & School District Meeting will be conducted by Australian ballot, by decision of the Selectboard in consultation with the Charleston School District and Board of Civil Authority, which presides over elections. There will not be a meeting at Charleston Elementary. Current Vermont health and safety guidelines prevent a gathering large enough to welcome all voters. Vermont Selectboards have temporary legal authority to make this decision for 2021 only.

What’s different for Town Meeting 2021
Candidates for office must submit a Consent of Candidate form to the Town Clerk by January 25th at 3pm

Town Reports will be mailed to all voter households by February 20

Town & School District Meeting ballots will be available from the Town Clerk by February 11. Download an Absentee/Early Ballot Request Form.

A Town & School District Informational Meeting will be held REMOTELY on the evening of March 1st to discuss budget/financial articles. Time and call-in/join details will be announced soon.

Voting will take place at the Town Clerk’s Office from 10am to 7pm on March 2, 2021. Absentee ballots must be received by the Town Clerk before 7pm that day.

[Check back. This page will be updated with more details, sample ballots, etc. as the election approaches.]

Charleston officials and residents value our in-person Town Meeting, and we look forward to business as usual next year.
